From the Principal 6/8/17

Dear Phelps Luck Families,

I wanted to share an update about our Elementary School Model.  The Elementary School Model (ESM) will be changing for the 2017-2018 school year.
•    Strengths Development will no longer be funded by HCPSS. However, we will continue to focus on the 5 Principles of ‘Grow Strong’ and hope to use school funds to continue the Strength Explorer survey for 4th graders and 5th graders new to PLES.
•    Departmentalization will be adjusted as follows:

     *  Departmentalized instruction will no longer take place in Grade 1 at ESM or any other HCPSS schools.

     *  Decisions about departmentalized instruction in grades 2-5 are school-based decisions. At Phelps Luck, we have decided to discontinue departmentalization in grades 2-5 to support our students’ needs.

The other parts of the model will remain in their current form (full-day PreK, daily Spanish instruction, and Telehealth).  If you are seeking information regarding the Elementary School Model, please visit this link.  I am looking forward to our continued work on this initiative. Please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions.

Sincerely,
Michelle M. Leader
Principal
