From the Principal. . .

Dear Phelps Luck Families,

The week of November 25th is designated for Parent Teacher Conferences. Parent Teacher Conferences are a terrific opportunity for staff and parents to partner together for each child’s success. Beginning Monday, November 11th, you can log into HCPSS Connect to view and select from the time slots provided by the teacher for the conference. If you do not have access to HCPSS Connect, please call the school for assistance. Please see directions at the end of this newsletter.

November conferences will be with homeroom teachers. Please note, if your child has GT Math with Mrs. Fleck, you can sign up for a conference with her as well.

You will have access through Friday, November 22nd to schedule your child’s conference by logging into HCPSS Connect. We look forward to conferencing with you about your child’s progress!

Young Authors’ Contest 2019 - 2020

Original short stories and poems are sought from Phelps Luck students in grades 1-5 for the 2019-20 Young Authors’ Contest. The Howard County Reading Council sponsors the contest. High quality winning entries from each grade will move on to the county level competition. The deadline for the submission of typed entries is Monday, December 2, 2019. Call or email any classroom teacher or reading specialist, Tracy Jones, at if you need clarification or have questions. Teachers also have contest announcements and the cover sheets that must accompany each entry.

Candy for the Courageous

Please bring any extra unopened Halloween candy to school in a ziploc bag between November 1-5, 2019. We will be giving the candy to the USO at BWI airport, so that they can give it to our troops before they travel overseas. Also, feel free to write letters/cards to the troops, which will be given to our military. We collected about 100 pounds of candy last year! Let’s beat this record!
